Climate Action Plan

Review the Final Draft

The City of Bothell is excited to share the final draft of the Climate Action Plan (CAP). The plan was officially adopted by Bothell's City Council on November 18, 2025.

Bothell’s Climate Action Plan is our guide to a cleaner, healthier tomorrow. It outlines practical ways the City and community can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions which are the primary driver of climate change. By using less energy, producing less waste, and traveling in ways that help our planet, Bothell can address local needs, while supporting Washington State's goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. By taking action now and working together, we can ensure Bothell remains a great place to live for generations to come.

Thank You for Your Contributions

We sincerely thank everyone who participated in the public engagement process. Your input - from surveys and workshops to Draft Plan comments - helped refine and strengthen the plan. Local climate success stories are also featured in the final draft to highlight local examples and inspire further action.

Past Engagement

Bothell's Climate Action Plan was developed over the course of 2025 through a collaborative and data driven process, with multiple opportunities for public input and participation:

  • Citywide Survey #1 (January 2025): Collected broad community perspectives on climate concerns, priority areas, and perceived barriers to taking climate action. The results helped establish the foundation for early CAP strategies and topics for further engagement. View Survey #1 Results
  • Topic-Specific Workshops (May 2025): Hosted interactive sessions on Home Electrification and Transportation, offering presentation from community partners on available programs, incentives, and local regional projects. These workshops provided space for questions, idea-sharing, and discussion about opportunities for climate action in Bothell.
  • Citywide Survey #2 (July 2025): Gathered more detailed feedback on potential actions, including which strategies had the highest community support and where residents saw the biggest opportunities for impact. Survey responses helped refine and prioritize actions included in the plan. View Survey #2 Results
  • Draft Plan Public Comment Period (July 28 - August 31, 2025): Provided residents and stakeholders the opportunity to review the draft CAP and offer detailed comments. Feedback from this period was reviewed line-by-line and incorporated into the final draft, helping ensure the plan reflects community values and local priorities.
