242nd Ave and Stipek Park
This area experiences heavy congestion during summer months and during afternoon after‑school hours, creating a significant safety concern for both drivers and pedestrians. As this is a city park, it is frequently used by families with young children. At times, children—excited to enter the park—may unexpectedly dart across the roadway.
Due to the level of congestion and limited visibility, drivers often cannot see small children until it is too late to react safely. Compounding this issue is the fact that both the entrance and exit to Green Acres Park are located in the same area, further increasing traffic conflicts and reducing sightlines.
For these reasons, this location should be considered a hazardous area. I respectfully request the installation of signage such as “Slow – Children Crossing” or “Use Extreme Caution.” Additionally, removing parking from one side of the street would significantly improve driver visibility and reduce constraints, helping to create a safer environment for everyone.
You will see in the picture that I have attached the area that is in the box that I feel needs to be addressed. I feel that the area with the arrow directly above it should have no parking allowed on that side of the street, thus removing the need for parents or children to cross the street to access the park.
You will see the areas that I believe will help with the traffic and to help with safety.
